Get Ahead This Summer: Study Skills for High School and University Success

Our study skills programme at ISSOS started as a Pre IB programme, designed to prepare students starting the IB Diploma with the skills needed to tackle the last two years of high school. The programme is for students 15 and above and who have an English level of B2 and above or who have English as a first language. 

Over the years more and more parents and students asked if they could join the programme despite not taking the International Baccalaureate Diploma. We soon realised that the popular programme we had designed, needed to be expanded and designed to cater to all high school students to prepare them for University and the last two years of school and so 3 years ago we changed our Pre-IB programme to Study Skills. 

The study skills programme has been designed to offer students all the study skills they do not normally learn at school but that are needed to tackle the last two years of high school, regardless of the curriculum being followed. It prepares students for the first few years of university with the skills needed to excel. 

The study skills programme at ISSOS covers essay writing and structure, planning and research, speed reading, note taking, goal setting and communications and team work as well as presentation skills and public speaking. The programme is accompanied by our bespoke ISSOS study Skills handbook that is given to every student to help them after they leave ISSOS and need to reference the skills learnt, there is also a list of additional resources that have been carefully selected to assist all students on their journey.

The ISSOS Study Skills course is available at all 2 campuses and is taught by teachers who have Phds or masters and spend their year teaching university students the very skills needed to excel in the subject of their choice. 

As with all academics at ISSOS, students select an elective to take part in in the afternoon. ISSOS is not just an academic summer school, it is a well-balanced programme where electives are taught to the same high standard as the academics, and we make sure students have fun, while learning from the best and most qualified teachers.

Where and when can you take Study Skills?

You can choose to study Study Skills at all three of our campuses in summer 2025, and combine it with one of our electives to suit your interests:
