Creative Writing

Over the three weeks, our Creative Writing students will work on a variety of exciting writing projects, including short stories, poetry, essays, scenes or song lyrics. The course encourages extensive writing practice, giving students the chance to experiment with different forms of writing and explore their creative potential.

In addition, students will explore the process of drafting and rewriting, learning to understand that writing is an evolving journey, looking at structure, flow, and rhythm, learning how to shape stories and keep readers engaged.

They will also learn how to give and receive constructive feedback in a supportive and kind way, helping them grow not only as writers but also as collaborators.

Students will also study the work of well-known writers, examining how they use language to build page turning stories and create memorable characters.

Throughout the creative writing summer school programme students will receive personalised guidance from our highly experienced writing teachers, helping them develop their own individual style and voice.

By the end of the course, students will have created a small collection of work that showcases what they have been working on over the three weeks. This course is a perfect step for those ready to take their writing to the next level.

*Before arrival, any students with English as a second language will be asked to complete a British Council English Language Test. We do this to make sure that everyone is in a suitable class and will get the most out of their time at ISSOS.
