Typical Week at Summer School

Summer school days at ISSOS are enriching, fun, exciting, and full of opportunities for personal development and building new friendships.

While they are far from typical, days and weeks do all follow a pattern and this is the same regardless of whether you’re joining our summer programme at St Andrews, Cambridge or Yale.

Weekdays

Weekdays are taken up with class time.

Academics run from 9am - 12noon Monday to Friday, and Electives are in the afternoons from 1pm - 4pm* (except on Wednesdays when we take half-day trips).

*Students taking Golf in St Andrews will have two hours at the Dukes Course for their afternoon elective class.

Evenings

After classes each day we have a variety of activities planned for students to sign up for, and after dinner we have one of our Evening Programmes.

EPs and activities range from athletic to artistic, with something to match the talents and interests of every student. These help to balance academics and electives and help students get to know others that they might not have met in classes or in their groups.

Weekends

Saturdays are reserved for cultural day trips and Sundays are when students will have the most free time and can enjoy a lie-in, phone home, explore the campus towns, relax or just hang out with friends.

Although Sundays are for free time we also organise a variety of optional Workshops for students to participate in if they want to.
