Teachers

Guy is a highly accomplished screenwriter and playwright with a passion for working with young people and inspiring them through literature and drama. He has been with us for one summer as Creative Writing Teacher at our St Andrews summer school.

He has a First in English and Theatre from Bristol University and an MLitt (with distinction) in Playwriting and Screenwriting. His experience includes assessing and providing personalised feedback on scripts, a skill he learned during his studies under renowned playwrights Zinnie Harris and Oliver Emanuel.

Guy’s work has earned major recognition, including being long-listed for the David MacLennan Award and artist residencies like The Island in Bristol. With over four years of experience working with young people, Guy is great at creating engaging lessons to inspire and support students.

Jessie has spent three summers as our Creative Writing teacher in St Andrews.

Outside of ISSOS, Jessie is a Lecturer in English and Creative Writing at the University of Strathclyde, having previously held an Early Career Fellowship in Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh.

She holds a PhD in Literature and an MSc in Creative Writing from the University of Edinburgh, as well as a BA in English Literature from the University of Toronto.

A published author of both fiction and non-fiction, she is a highly experienced writer and teacher with a deep passion for writing and literature, and an asset to our ISSOS team.
