We know that students are with us during their summer holidays, which is why we make sure that ISSOS is packed with fun activities and cultural enrichment.
Our trips are all carefully planned in advance and are supervised by our trusted team of summer school staff, so that we can confidently give our students the freedom to explore and spend time with their new friends.
Saturday Trips from Cambridge
Our summer school students in Cambridge will spend all day on Saturdays exploring Windsor and Oxford.
Oxford - Oxford is a stunning city, dominated by one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world; the University of Oxford. Students will enjoy a walking tour of the city that will introduce them to its history and culture, where they will also find a number of locations featured in the Harry Potter films along the way. All of our students will then have free time to shop in this fantastic city that has lots of lovely cafes to enjoy and street artists to entertain them.
Windsor - The Royal Borough of Windsor is home to the world-famous Windsor Castle, the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world, Her Majesty The Queen's favourite weekend home and the location for the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Students will go on a tour of Windsor Castle and experience the Changing Of The Guards, before spending some time exploring and shopping in the vibrant town surrounding the castle.
Half Day Trips from Cambridge
Students will choose two of the following half-day trips to go on, on a Wednesday afternoon. These trips are chosen in advance, when we send out our Student Questionnaire ahead of students’ arrival.
Aqua Park - An inflatable obstacle course on water, find your inner gladiator and race friends around this massive inflatable course. Students must be confident swimmers to take part in this trip and be able to swim 25 meters unassisted.
Ely Cathedral and Town - This is one of England's largest and most beautiful Cathedrals, famous for its Octagon Tower and home to the only national museum dedicated to stained glass. Students can also visit the home of Oliver Cromwell who was one of the UK's most famous military-political leaders. Within the town of Ely, ISSOS students have the opportunity to visit lots of different galleries and shops where they can buy gifts and souvenirs.
Clip and Climb - Clip 'n Climb Cambridge is an action-packed climbing experience that’s perfect for all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned climber, no experience is necessary, and all equipment is provided. It's the perfect way to bond with friends while tackling exciting climbing challenges.
Cambridge Tour and Punting on the River Cam - Take a tour around Cambridge and hear about the history of this amazing city while learning about the different colleges that make up The University of Cambridge. Go down the River Cam on a punting boat and relax with friends.
Ten Pin Bowling (full summer school trip) - On the final trip day of each session all students and staff are invited to go ten-pin bowling. This is a great trip that allows everyone to hang out and spend time bonding before they prepare to leave and return home.
