Elias

Elias

Some of our ISSOS students will know Elias as their Photography teacher, others will know him as their Art or Creative Writing teacher. That's because he's highly qualified in all three subjects and now has an amazing 8 summers teaching at ISSOS behind him.

Elias has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in New Media from California College of the Arts, a Master of Literature in Poetry from the University of St Andrews, an MLIS from Syracuse University, and a PhD in Information Science from the University of Washington.

He is a highly experienced photographer and writer with extensive teaching experience in his multiple subjects.

Sara

Sara

Sara spent her first summer at ISSOS in 2024. She is a talented photographer and video artist, as well as experienced private tutor and workshop leader. She holds a BA in Fine Arts from the Florence Academy of Fine Arts and an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art.

Selected for the SW Darkroom Residency Award, The Labyrinth Lab/RCA Award 2019 and the London Creative Network in 2020, Sara’s work has been shown in Italy, England, America, and Czech Republic.

With many years of experience on set, in darkrooms and film labs Sara brings a wealth of knowledge to our students.

Loreal

Loreal

With over a decade of experience as an art and photography tutor, Loreal is a highly regarded photographer based in London who has taught three summers at ISSOS so far.

Loreal holds a BFA in Photography from The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and a MA in Photography from The Royal College of Art in London. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Photo London, Arles Photo Festival, LifeFramer's travelling exhibition, and MIA Art Fair.

In recognition of her work, Loreal has been shortlisted for the Queen Elizabeth Trust Fund, nominated for 100 Heroines by the Royal Photography Society, and has received numerous awards. Her work has been published in a variety of high profile publications including The Guardian, Vogue, L’Œil de la Photographie, and Aesthetica.

Every year, we work incredibly hard to find the most inspiring and experienced team that we can to teach our Photography summer programme.

The teachers we feature here might not be the exact person leading the class when you join us, but it gives you an idea of the kind of people that we employ for our Photography class.
