Levels

At ISSOS, we use the CEFR framework to ensure students are placed in the right English class, helping them learn effectively and confidently.

At ISSOS, we use the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) to help us make sure that students are in the right class and get the most out of their time at ISSOS.

Students taking our English Language class should have English levels between A2 - B1 - levels are defined by the CEFR as:

A1

Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases. They can introduce themselves and others, and ask and answer simple questions. Students at this level unfortunately cannot be accepted to ISSOS.

A2

Can communicate in simple and routine tasks, requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics. Students at this level can take English Language at ISSOS.

B1

Can understand the main points of familiar topics and can deal with most situations while traveling in an area where English is spoken. Students at this level can take English Language, and some other academics, at ISSOS.

B2

Can communicate in most situations, including more unfamiliar and complex topics. They can express themselves clearly and fluently on a variety of subjects. Students at this level should consider other academics (for example Debate) at ISSOS.

C1

Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognize subtle differences in meaning. They can express themselves fluently and spontaneously and produce clear, well-structured writing on complex subjects. Students at this level are too advance for English Language classes and should consider other  academics (for example Study Skills or Debate) at ISSOS.

C2

Can understand nearly all spoken and written material, including complex language. They can express themselves fluently and accurately, distinguishing finer meaning in both writing and speaking. Students at this level are too advanced for English Language classes and should consider other academics (for example   Study Skills or Debate) at ISSOS.
