International Summer School - St Andrews

The exclusive ISSOS summer school program offers high school students (aged 13-18) from over 70 nationalities the opportunity to combine learning, creative enrichment and action-packed adventure in the historic and picturesque university town of St Andrews. Our three week program welcomes students from all over the world and mixes native and non-native English speakers, limiting the number of students from one nationality to 10% in order to guarantee a truly international experience.

Students choose from a variety of academic and elective subjects that are taught by highly qualified professionals and benefit from a full activities, cultural trips and workshops program. In addition students are well supervised by a team of summer school counselors who make sure students are safe and happy at all times as well as making sure the summer school is fun, full of laughter and that all students make friends from around the world. See below for a lits of academic and elective programs offered in St Andrews.

St Andrews

The town of St Andrews is packed with history, tradition and culture and the golden beaches of this idyllic coastal location provide not only a unique and breathtaking backdrop but also a stimulating, exciting and, above all, safe environment for students to spend their summer.

St Andrews in Scotland is a fascinating town internationally renowned as the home of golf and every year, thousands of golfers and tourists travel to St Andrews to behold the world famous Old Course and Royal and Ancient Golf Club and to experience and admire some of the most famous golf courses in the world.

St Andrews is also home to Scotland’s oldest university, founded in 1412. The elegant, ivy-clad buildings and delightful quadrangles and gardens of St Andrews University have seen a procession of famous graduates, including John Knox and John Napier – and, more recently, Prince William.

How ISSOS Works

All students attending St Andrews choose one academic and one elective to follow for the duration of the three week program. In addition students will benefit from our all inclusive and exciting activities, cultural trips and workshops.

Academics

Our high quality academic summer school programs are designed to cater specifically to the needs of international students. Classes meet daily for three hours and unlike other summer schools, we offer limited places in order to guarantee that all our students will benefit from small class sizes and individual attention.

Electives

Each student combines his or her academic summer school program option with one of our unique, in-depth elective summer school courses, which are timetabled four afternoons per week. These fun-filled and action-packed courses enable students to discover and participate in exciting subjects while gaining new skills.

Activities

In addition to our exceptional academic summer school programs and exciting afternoon elective courses, students will also benefit from a broad ranging and all-inclusive summer school activities program and will enjoy cultural trips, allowing them to get to know the surrounding area.
