ISSOS Debates Coach named as Europe's Top Debater
Date: August 26, 2014
Ben Adams ISSOS Debated Coach is named Europes best debater.
What better an accolade for any debater than to be named the best individual debater. Ben Adams who has taught debate at ISSOS for two years recived such an accolade this week the the European University Debating Competion.
The European Universities' Debating Competition was held over five days last week in the Croatian capital of Zagreb. The competition occurs in a different location every year, and is contested by university students from all across Europe and Israel.
ISSOS debating teacher, Ben Adams, was present representing Cambridge University and along with his partner performed well enough across the nine preliminary rounds and subsequent knockout stages to reach the final of the competition.
The final was held in the Croatian National Theatre on the motion: "This House Believes that feminist movements should oppose military interventions that claim to further women's rights." Although his team did not win the final, Ben performed consistently well across the competition to win the prize for Europe's best individual debater, out of a total of over 250 competitors.
Ben has now retired from competitive debating, though he plans to continue to be actively involved as a judge and a coach, and he has not ruled out returning to ISSOS next year!
