Award Winning ISSOS Debate Coaches

Debate Coaches

We are very proud of our Debate Coaches this year from both St Andrews and Cambridge, as between them, they have won every major debating championship other than the World Championships.

Ruairidh Macintosh (pictured left) who taught Debate at our Cambridge Campus won the European Universities Debating Championship held last week in Vienna. At last year’s competition in Zagreb, St Andrews debate teacher Ben Adams made the final of the competition and won the award for best individual speaker. Our other Debate Coach in St Andrews, Hannah Cogan, was a finalist in the Irish National Championships in 2012.

Ben and Kitty Parker-Brooks, a Cambridge Debate coach, also won last year’s English Speaking Union’s prestigious International Mace competition together, and Ben and Ruairidh won the ESU Scottish Mace in 2013. Ben and Kitty also made the finals of the World Debating Championships in Chennai in 2014 when they were jointly representing Cambridge University.

All in all, the ISSOS debate staff have won at least 25 Inter-Varsity debating competitions combined. We believe that students at ISSOS really are learning from the best. Well done to all of our Debate Coaches
