25 Jul 2011New ISSOS Cambridge Photos We hope you are all well.
You will be pleased to know that we have uploaded some new photos on to our website which we hope you will enjoy.
Some photos of the elective classes including Theatre, Photography, Tennis and Outdoor Leadership.
ISSOS stands for The International Summer School of Scotland and as the name suggests the summer school was founded in Scotland and as such we stay close to our roots by introducing some great Scottish traditions to every program. One of these traditions that is unique to ISSOS is Clan events. All students become a member of a Scottish Clan and take part in team games and competitions. The Highland Games sees the end of the competitions and the winning clan will win the ISSOS "Clan Cup". At the Highland games students will take part in welly wanging, tossing the caber, ISSOS strongest student and an all school capture the flag. The final night plays host to our traditional Scottish evening, dinner is a little different with Haggis on the menu and a piper to pipe in the haggis and then off to the final night dance where students and staff can take part in some traditional Scottish dancing and later on have fun at the disco.

19 Jul 2011ISSOS Variety Show Good afternoon all,
Quick note to let you know that we have posted some new photos on to our website for your enjoyment.
They include pictures of the The ISSOS Variety Show which was held last night, along with some shots of our group of students from The International School of Beijing.
The variety show is one of the highlights of the ISSOS Evening Programs. It includes a mixture of student and staff acts which are mixed, and are also eligible for gaining clan points. Last night, we saw a number of students take to the stage; Camile Yung wowed the audience with her piano performance of Southern Cathedral, while Illyasse Derrazi and Harold Johansen performed a rap which they wrote themselves. The evening came to a close with the “bizarre talent category,” with Annabe doing her impression of a Camel and Camile Yung impersonating a pokemon. Some of the boys joined in too, with Gregory licking his elbow and James Tugman touching his nose with his tongue. We also enjoyed an exciting performance from The new ISSOS house band - The Buffalos, (made up of The boys from Group Lewis) who serenaded us with Bob Marley’s "Buffalo Soldier."
We hope you enjoy!
18 Jul 2011ISSOS Session 1 Update Good Afternoon
Hope you are all well.
A few more photos have been posted on to the ISSOS website for your review.
They include some shots of the student disco which was held on Saturday as well as a student birthday which was celebrated.
Last week students had the opportunity to meet with the St Andrews University Admissions team. The presentation covered all aspects of the application process for international students as well as the relevant academic requirements, including IB points.
The talk was well received and students benefited from the expertise of the university recruitment team.
On Saturday students enjoyed a trip to Glasgow which was filled with sightseeing, museum visits..and of course, shopping.
In the evening, the students held an ISSOS disco which was enjoyed by all.
Wishing you all a great day!
14 Jul 2011Danish Longball Photos Good Afternoon,
ISSOS is now in full swing and students have settled into St Andrews, their new classes and friendships.
We hope you all have enjoyed viewing the photos we have been posting.
Last night the students played Danish Longball in their clans.
To English-speakers Danish Longball may be described as a hybrid of baseball and cricket, in which each team takes turns batting and fielding.
The weather was great and the students spirits were high.
We hope you enjoy them.

5 Jul 2011ISSOS 2011 Commences!! All Session 1 students have arrived safely and are settling into ISSOS, and their new home of Sallies for the next 3 weeks. The weather here in Scotland has been glorious and our students, who have come from all corners of the globe, are starting to get to know one another, participate in group activities and familiarize themselves with the local town. Yesterday, students had their first day of classes and our teachers were impressed by the high levels of enthusiasm displayed by all, despite jet lag and initial nerves.
We have posted some pictures on the photo gallery which we would encourage you all to view. We will try and update these every couple of days for your enjoyment, so please just keep checking the website accordingly.
